How you as a Community Educator may help for the process of change in communities by working with women?

You need to find some examples of successful women from the community and encourage your trainees’ hopes by showing that the change is possible for them.

What are the steps that you go through, when you plan to contribute for a change in a community?

You set your goal
You start to think how to organise your work with the women, how, where and when to gather them, how to earn their trust and confidence.
You build your group and set together with the group your plan, taking into account the needs of the women.

What is co-construction?

The co-construction learning is a multi-dimensional process, that involves everyone – learners and educators. It is collaborative approach, that requires cooperation and coordination. In co-construction everybody wins. The aim is to give and receive feedback and to learn from each other.

What is the difference of the co-construction comparing to other learning technics?

The co-construction helps the process of changing stereotypes and building of a new understanding for learners. Therefore, before you start co-construction you need first to do an analysis of the needs. You need to understand more about the problem you want to face, what are the stereotypes of participants for the topic you will develop together and to involve participants to co-lead the process.

Why women from some communities may be reluctant to participate in trainings, designed for them by you?

There may be many different reasons as for example care responsibilities, lack of time, lack of interest to the topic, but one of the main reasons might be that women are not considering the training space that you offer safe for them on emotional and/or on physical level.

What you can do to involve more women in your trainings?

You might consider the right time and place for organizing the trainings, so women can come according to their daily life. You need to know is it more comfortable for them to participate in mixed or in only women groups. You need to connect with the trainees and to gain their confidence at a very early stage. That means that you must know about similarities and differences of the cultural practices of the community and to try to find a common language with it from the beginning of the communication.
